Great Earth & Blue Ocean Closures Wins Prestigious Packaging of the Year Award at Recycling Gala 2025

Recyclability sits at the core of Blue Ocean Closures’ mission, and that commitment was recognised in a major way at the Recycling Gala 2025. Together with first-to-market partner Great Earth, the company’s innovative fibre-based screw cap received the highly respected Packaging of the Year award.

The event, which gathered Sweden’s leading recycling stakeholders and was attended by the Minister for Climate and Environment, highlighted breakthrough developments driving circular resource use. The award was presented by representatives from the PRO, Näringslivets Producentansvar and the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency.

Blue Ocean Closures’ technology challenges conventional packaging by replacing plastic caps with renewable, recyclable cellulose fibre. “The dietary supplement player is the first in the world to use a new closure made of recyclable cellulose fiber instead of the colored polypropylene caps previously used. The closure was developed by Blue Ocean Closures,” noted the jury.

Thank you to Recyclingnet and all supporters of Återvinningsgalan.

"Our solution is recyclable in the paper stream, the world’s most widely used recycling system. Commercially available and preferred by consumers, the fiber closures directly improve real recycling performance."
